UPVC Replacement Door Handles
Over time, the handles on your doors will get worn out and require replacement. It is important to keep the same dimensions as the old handles when replacing them.
The three measurements to check are the top screw's location the lever and key hole dimensions. Use the size guide to assistance with this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever door handle is a modern handle that can be used on new or replacement doors. This type door handle is available in a variety of styles and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed from durable materials, and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline and run from the same spindle and screw fixings so they are easily installed on doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.
The sprung lever design allows the handle to be positioned and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. upvc replacement door handles ensures that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever can also be shortened to fit a wider range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for doors with narrower frames, where the cylinder is located further back. A shorter lever is a good choice for doors where the latch can be opened by a thumb turn on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently than lever handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handles are operated by a single spindle or by two spindles, either inline or offset. They are usually utilized on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a range of finishes and variations.
The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200k cycles and are available in a variety of finishes like White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high degree of durability and performance for its intended use.
All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws and can be mounted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is often beneficial when replacing an old or damaged multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also sprung, solving the problem of door handles sagging out of the horizontal position when not in use.
When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also called the handle centre or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the right handles.
Once you have the correct PZ size you will then have to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you need for your doors. These are typically square or round with an internal lever and an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they return to their horizontal position when not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This keeps draughts out of the home. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles are available in left and right handed models which allows them to be placed on either side of doors.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are usually found on uPVC doors, but can also be found on other types of door. The cylinder lock is operated with a key that unlocks the cylinder's casing. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned to the pins in the lock and allow them to rotate the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.
Choosing the right cylinder is crucial; it depends on how your door and handle are utilized. External doors, for example are required to be fitted with cylinders with greater security, whereas doors inside can be secured using the standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features which can enhance security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump features.
To make sure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you cannot measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, so it is important that it's not too long.
The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. These are designed to reduce the risk of attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in a different direction. This will help to deflect the attack and ensure your doors are secure.
There are also cylinders that have been made to resist snapping. This is a more frequent kind of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is smashed with a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is faster and more straightforward than opening multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a break-in which could hinder the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is situated within the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to help return your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after usage. In the past, a lot of handles of this kind didn't have a spring built into them and without this they can droop or drop when the locking mechanism is disengaged. The addition of this simple element is one of the best methods to correct this, and is an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in either closed or open position, as they aren't always easy to close manually.
These spring cassettes are specially designed for use with sprung multipoint locks but they won't work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will need to have a bespoke hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes inside the door handle backplate of numerous brands of uPVC doors. They feature a square cut-out that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and are sold as a set.
These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution to the issue of door handles that are sagging. These spring cassettes are simple to install and can extend the lifespan of your uPVC door.
